| Over a period of 21 years, ProsLink has evolved from providing computer services to a handful of offices in Indiana to all the offices of the prosecuting attorneys throughout the state. ProsLink began in 1987 when | |
| it became apparent that there was no central collection of criminal history in the State of Indiana. The Indiana Prosecuting Attorneys Council requested that the founder of ProsLink create a statewide network among all the prosecuting attorney offices in the state to accomplish three main objectives: | |
• Automate the paper production process for charging criminal defendants.
• Track criminal cases as they progress through the courts
• Collect this criminal case history at a central repository and then share it among the prosecutors throughout the state so that prosecutors would know the criminal history of those they prosecute.
In order to accomplish these objectives, ProsLink created the software necessary to perform these functions and also installed and maintained all of the equipment used by the prosecuting attorney offices throughout the state that accessed the system. The ProsLink system expanded voluntarily to over 80 counties and now receives, retains and disseminates over 90% of all the criminal history in the state of Indiana. Updates are provided to the software to keep current with new legislation. Telephone support and training is provided to all the prosecutors and their staffs throughout the state.
In recent years additional links have been established so that large counties such as Marion (Indianapolis) and Allen (Ft. Wayne) transmit their criminal history to ProsLink from their own proprietary systems. In addition all of the data is now transmitted to the Indiana State Police criminal history repository for inclusion in criminal history background checks.
| ProsLink, from experience, has learned how to work with technology and individuals on a | |
| large scale. This has allowed us to expand into the private sector, which began in March of 2005. With this new endeavor ProsLink will continue to grow the Prosecutor's Management System into other states and allow businesses both small and large to take advantage of our expertise in the world of Information Technology and Support. | |
